The Two Senior Officers Instants Before the Assailant Received Electric Shock

A police sergeant who jumped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knife attacker has been awarded the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist after a vehicle incident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman attacked," the officer stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the floor even though being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "I need assistance on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered two lacerations to his neck and further injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Officials stated Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his partner's blood loss before medical personnel reached the scene.

The new recognition comes subsequent to the law enforcement team won organizational Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the area officer association in early 2024.

They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in summer 2024.

"The responses of the entire team in the end rescued each other and resulted in no bystanders endured any harm."
