Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
